A Message from Durell Buzzini, President, Rotary Club of Marco Island Noontime
The primary definition of connection in my dictionary is: a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else. Initially I thought this would form the basis of my message but then my eye dropped down to a supplemental description a few lines below that read:
Over the last few years the concept of flow has become a captivating and inspirational force in my life. There is a flow to everything; routines, workouts, education, careers, commerce, transportation, digestion, compassion, love, money, fear, joy, suffering, service. We can choose to flow along any of these lines independently but when we instead connect our circuit of flow with that of others powerful electricity is generated and the magic begins.
I have been a Rotarian for over 25 years and I have witnessed the power of connection in so many ways. I have joined with local Rotarians to help build homes, deliver holiday meals or toys to needy families, provide educational scholarships, mentor youngsters, facilitate literacy, promote good nutrition and the list goes on. On an international level I have witnessed the dedicated effort to eradicate polio, provide eyeglasses and wheelchairs for those who have had to live without, help developing communities install sustainable systems to generate their first reliable sources of drinking water and this list goes on as well.
Our work together as Rotarians is vital to our community both here in our beautiful island home and throughout the world. We gather together at regular meetings throughout the year to share a meal, enrich our understanding of the current state of our world, celebrate our service and just have some fun. We are a devoted and enthusiastic group of citizens who use our professional skills to help those with special needs and improve the quality of life in our community and the world.
Come connect with our local circuit and we will show you how to connect with the world!
